The history of North Sonoma starts with the Pomo People. Their villages were scattered along the Russian River. 1800s brought settlers who started to populate the area. Healdsburg was founded in 1857 when Harmon Heald bought the land. Fast forward to 1872 and the Northwest Pacific Railroad brought commerce and tourists.
Russian River wineries, Healdsburg wineries, and Sonoma wineries were therefore some of the oldest in California. History enthusiasts should definitely be visiting these areas.
